Understanding Our Cap Constructions
Choosing the right cap construction is just as important as choosing the perfect colour, length and style.
Every wig wearer is different. Some clients want a realistic hairline and love styling their wig away from the face, while others are looking for something secure, comfortable and easy to wear every day. The right cap construction can make all the difference to how your wig looks, feels and fits into your lifestyle.
Below you'll find a breakdown of each cap construction we offer, including their features, benefits and who they're best suited for. Whether you're completely new to wigs or a confident long-term wearer, this guide will help you find the construction that's right for you.
Standard Features Included
All of our cap constructions include:
- Adjustable bra-style straps
- Silicone strips
- Removable combs

- HD lace
These features are designed to help improve comfort, security and fit across all cap constructions.

- Combs can be removed on request
- V-tabs can be added to lace front and full lace units on request
Lace Front
Our lace front wigs feature a 13x6 lace frontal at the front with wefted hair at the back.
Each unit includes:
- Adjustable bra-style straps
- Silicone strips
- Removable combs
- An additional elastic band if needed
V-tabs can also be added on request.
This cap construction is ideal for those wanting the most natural looking hairline and who are comfortable sticking their wig down using glue, gel or adhesive products.
The lace itself is lightweight and flexible which is what helps create such a realistic finish. However, because of this, if the lace is not secured down it may lift or flap slightly with movement.
So if you know you do not want to glue or secure your wig down, a lace front may not be the best option for you.
Best for:
- Realistic hairlines
- Styling away from the face
- Confident wig wearers
- Those happy using adhesives or wig grips
Beginners Cap
The beginners cap is exactly what it sounds like — designed for those who are newer to wigs and want something easier to wear and more “pop on and go”.
The main difference between a beginners cap and a lace front is the ear tab area.
The beginners cap includes:
- Extra material around the ear tabs
- Silicone strips around the sides
- Flexible wiring inside the tabs
The silicone helps grip against the skin, while the flexible wiring allows the ear tabs to be gently shaped so they sit snug against your face. This helps reduce movement and makes the wig feel more secure without necessarily needing glue.
This cap is a fantastic option for bald clients or those with minimal hair underneath because you can simply put the wig on and go.
However, beginners caps are not perfect for everyone.
If you have bio hair, sideburns or hair around the sides of your face, you may find the coverage around the ear area is not enough to fully conceal your natural hair. Ear tabs naturally sit slightly higher than the ear, so sideburn coverage can sometimes be limited.
That being said, many people (including myself) wear beginners caps with some natural hair left out around the sides to blend everything together more naturally.
Best for:
- Beginners
- Everyday wear
- Clients wanting minimal glue or adhesive
- Bald or low-density bio hair underneath
- “Pop on and go” styling
Full Lace Units
Full lace units are my most advanced cap construction and are best suited to experienced wig wearers.
These units require more work to install and secure properly, so if you are looking for something quick and easy, this may not be the right option for you.
The construction includes:
- Lace through the top area
- Stretch fabric through the back section
- Lace at the nape of the neck
The back section is not fully lace all over. The stretch fabric matches the hair colour and helps provide flexibility and comfort whilst still allowing for versatile styling.
The lace at the nape makes this cap construction ideal for high ponytails, buns and hair-up styles.
Our full lace units are available:
- With ear tabs
- Without ear tabs
This gives you flexibility depending on how you plan to wear the wig.
For example:
- If you regularly wear your wig up, you may prefer no ear tabs for maximum versatility
- If you want the option to occasionally wear the wig glueless, ear tabs may help provide more security
One thing to note is that the stretch fabric can sometimes make the wig feel slightly less snug compared to other constructions, so I usually recommend sizing down slightly if you prefer a tighter fit.
Best for:
- Experienced wig wearers
- Hair-up styling
- Maximum versatility
- Ponytails and updos
- Clients comfortable using adhesives regularly
